HIC Test Cost and Pricing

What herding instinct testing typically costs, what is included in the fee, and the additional expenses handlers should plan for around test day.

The headline price of an HIC test rarely tells the full story. The fee paid to the evaluator covers the pen time, the stock, and the written evaluation. It does not cover the travel, the registration with the certifying organization, the optional lessons many handlers add before the test, or the costs of a retest if the first attempt does not go well.

Pricing varies widely by region, organization, and evaluator. A test at a club fun day is often a fraction of the cost of a private evaluation at a working farm. Both can be valid; the choice depends on what conditions best suit your dog and what level of feedback you want from the experience.

The articles tagged here cover typical test pricing ranges, what to ask about before booking, how to budget realistically for the full process from preparation through certification, and which costs are worth paying for versus which corners can safely be cut.
